OTHER COMMITTEES...
INTERGENERATIONAL COMMITTEE
The purpose of this committee is to plan, organize and evaluate a variety of intergenerational programs which occur
within the
Centre, in schools,
and other community settings. These programs are designed to promote interaction between seniors and the younger generations. Younger students participate in projects involving making crafts together with seniors:
In one of the most successful projects, called "knitting generations together", seniors taught children from a local elementary school to knit. Older students
from high schools and Universities participate in interesting discussions with seniors.
Other activities include religious celebrations (e.g. a Purim party and Shabbat candle
lighting). This group meets twice a month.

The Social Action Committee allows seniors to voice their opinions to various
levels of government or to organizations on issues of importance that concern them. Along with local issues (such as extending the light time for crossing
at an intersection near the Centre), many issues of concern to all seniors or even all
Canadians are discussed.
The Social Action Committee was instrumental in establishing special TTC fares
