The La'Briyut Wellness Centre strives to empower seniors to take control of their lives through education, participation and health promotion. 

To achieve this goal, the Wellness Centre offers a variety of clinics, complementary therapies, fitness classes, and other health related programs such as memory boosters, talks and chats, lectures and psychotherapy.

CLINICS

  • Arthritis Management Clinic
    A registered physical therapist conducts individual assessments and provides recommendations on pain management, joint protection and energy conservation and community resources (by appointment only);

  • Chiropody Services
    Chiropodists provide basic foot care and education
    (by appointment only);

  • Diabetes Education & Counseling
    A registered Dietitian and a registered nurse will provide group sessions and individual counseling at the Centre to individuals with Type II Diabetes and their caregivers.

COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES

  • Reiki
    Hands-on energy channeling promotes physical, emotional and spiritual healing;

  • Holistic Therapies
    A comprehensive range of holistic therapies including acupressure, light therapy, reflexology, colour counselling, orthomolecular, sound & colour, reiki, aromatherapy, shiatsu, and chakra balance.

FITNESS CLASSES

  • Gentle Fitness
    Strengthen your body with a gentle workout of stretching, weight bearing and strength training exercises.  Level II is an intermediate level and is ideal for persons who are ready to progress to the next level;

  • Low Impact Fitness
    Improve your stamina and energy with a more active workout;

  • Vigorous Fitness
    Enjoy a more intense workout and strengthen your heart and lungs;

  • Osteofit
    Increase bone density through weight bearing and muscle strengthening exercises using hand weights and resistive bands.  The Advanced class includes aerobics and requires more mobility. The Intermediate class involves mostly seated work. The "all levels" class combines both types of exercise;

  • Yoga
    Harmonize the mind and body with stretching, strengthening and balance exercises;

  • Walking Club
    The simplest exercise can also be very effective.

  • Chats and Talks
    An informal discussion about health issues facilitated by a health professional;

  • The Healing Centre (Individual and Group Psychotherapy)
    Professional therapists are available to provide individual and group counseling (by appointment only);

  • Lectures
    Become better informed about how to prevent illness, cope with existing problems, live a healthy lifestyle and become a wiser health care consumer;

  • Memory Boosters
    A fun-filled session to stimulate your mind, enhance your memory and improve your concentration and problem solving skills;
