Computer Discovery 1: Our
popular “Beginners” course. Students learn the fundamentals of
using the mouse and keyboard and are introduced to the basic features of Windows.
At the end of the course, students will be able to send and receive email and
do basic Internet surfing. No experience is necessary.

Computer Discovery 2: Intermediate Students build on the beginner
level, continuing with email attachments and address books. More advanced
features of Internet Surfing and word processing are introduced. Students
should have taken Computer Discovery 1 or have the equivalent skills.

Computer Discovery 3: Advanced course
material includes “chat” and “instant messaging”,
advanced email and Internet concepts and computer functionality such as
installing, downloading and making CDs. Computer Discovery 2 or the equivalent
skill level is required.

Computer Discovery Plus (for experienced users
who have an interest in computer configuration and maintenance)

Word Processing: A 10 week course dedicated to using Microsoft Word to
create attractive and professional looking documents. Formatting and printing
techniques as well as using graphics is a popular part of this course. Students
should have taken Computer Discovery 1 or have the equivalent skills.

– 4:00 pm
ZoomText: Screen magnification software as
well as built-in components of Windows are used to instruct seniors with vision
impairments. Taught by the CNIB, this course is a boon for visually impaired
seniors who wish to use computers in their daily lives. No experience is
necessary.
Fridays April

FaceBook, YouTube and other fun stuff: * 5 Week mini-course* This 5 week
mini-course is by popular demand. Students are introduced to “social
networking” starting with the hugely popular FaceBook and moving on to
blogging and Wikipedia. Computer Discovery 2 or the equivalent skill level is
required.
Fridays April
11 – May 9 11:30
am – 1:30 pm
Introduction to PowerPoint: *5 week mini-course* Students interested
in making slide shows of their photographs, adding animation, music and special
effects using Microsoft PowerPoint. Students in this 5 week mini-course should
have Computer Discovery 2 or the equivalent skill level.

Our volunteers are too numerous to mention by name. We have
over 30 excellent, patient individuals volunteering with our program... but
we're constantly looking for more. If you have technical skills and the desire
to help seniors,
